COORDINATING COMMITTEE FOR ASIA (CCASIA) MEETING.

 

18th CCASIA

The 18th Session of the FAO/WHO Coordinating Committee for Asia (CCASIA) was held on 5-9 November 2012 in Tokyo, Japan.

The Committee was attended by 83 delegates from 20 Asian Member countries, 3 Member countries outside the Region, 9 international organisations and representatives of FAO and WHO.

The Committee achieved a big and historical progress on many issues; namely, on discussion on regional standards for tempe and for non-fermented soybean products.

The Committee also showed its great interests in some issues, including development of a new Regional Strategic Plan for CCASIA, establishment of a new committee on spices, and development of code of hygienic practice for street-vended foods.

Japan was nominated as the Asian Coordinator for its second term.
